donny day has been practicing yoga since 1993. his background includes experience in hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa and kundalini yoga traditions.  most recently, he was teaching yoga in fukuoka, japan (2015-2016) - previous to that, chengdu, china (2007 - 2013), as well as yoga therapy to students at kaivalyadham in india.  he's now based out of toronto after 7 years of teaching and training in asia/southeast asia.

in 2001 donny began studies on the 'carlos castenda' path of shamanism, studying directly under swift deer's students (swift deer was taught by don genaro who was taught by don juan - don juan taught carlos casteneda).  he attended to icss (institute for contemporary shamanic studies) for 5 years, attending sweatlodges and dozens of other intense shamanic ceremonies, as well as various trips to mexico to gain more knowledge and experience.

recently, donny has returned from his 3rd trip to japan.  currently he studies ashtanga yoga with dave dobson (pattabhi joises student for 10 years and sharaths student for 10 years) and is studying ashtnaga at the pattabhi Jois Shala (yoga temple) in Mysore, India.  he is also on a 10-year journey traditionally studying ayurveda under the well-known dr. padmini out of mysore, india.

 

donny also studied 8-step mantis style gong fu, taiji and qi gong in china for 5 years and is a certified 2nd grade black belt in mantis style kung fu.  other training  includes conducting yoga workshops with swathi iyengar, taiji studies with devananda giri in mainland china, teachings with uma inder (bali), various shamanic courses and ceremonies (2002 - present) and more.  donny has also participated in 2 panchakarma's and enjoys a lifestyle heavily influenced by ayurveda.
